Me!

My name is Cassandra Whittem, but most people call me Sandy, Cassie or Candy (for those who cant choose). Im 16 years old.

I like movies, superhero comic books, music, literature, my puppy Jackal, umbrellas, spiders, spiral staircases, sliding down the banisters of said spiral staircases, pulling the stickers off Rubik's Cubes and thunderstorms.

I have been described by others as a “cheerful extrovert”, “friendly”, “bubbly”, “smiley”, “random”, “just weird”, “twisted” and “rad”

Acting and singing are my passions, and my absolute favourite things in the world to do.

The picture is of myself and two curious friends of mine, after they decided to duct tape me to a tree.

Singing

I've been singing since I was four, and started formally studying it in 2003, have been ever since. I received an A with Honours in AMEB Fourth Grade Classical Vocal Examination in 2008 and also and A honours in the AMEB Contemporary Vocal Examination, Step One. I also participated as a vocalist in the HICES Music Festival in 2006 and 2008 (entry by audition). I received offer of Admission to the Hunter School of Performing Arts.

Education

I completed year 10 at Hunter Valley Grammar School, in NSW, placed in the Extension English class. I am currently in year 11, VCE, and attending Matthew Flinders GSC.

Art

Im interested in art of all kinds, especially drawing. Ive been drawing since I was about ten, and my favourite subject to draw is people. Maybe its because theyre really complicated, and no two are the same... Anyway heres a drawing of mine of a guy called Rowan.

My Acting

Training

I studied acting with the Maitland Repertory Society, 2005-2007, taking part of the cast in such productions as "Aladdin", "Hooks Revenge", and "I Remember Mamma". I also gained backstage experience in the HVGS production of Midsummer Nights Dream in 2008. I also played the Cheshire Cat in the Matthew Flinders GSC production ALiCE the musical. I have been training at Screen Actors for a year and two terms.

Work Experience

No previous work experience in the Acting Industry.

Interest and Skills

I am interested in art, and have been drawing for many years, as well as taking a course in photography in year ten at school. I am interested in literature, creative writing, music composition and singing. I studied tae-kwon-do for five years, getting to the level of First-Dan black belt. I now study Fencing with the Geelong Fencing Club. I can also rollerskate and twirl fire. :D
