My Web Blog

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my weblog! I hope you enjoy browsing through the adventures of my acting life so far - as you can see its very exciting stuff! Acting is one of the most magical art forms i have experienced. I love movies and TV shows, i love how they can let you escape reality and take you on a journey. As an actor it is so delightful to make the audience travel on entertaining and different journeys. Never been to Africa? A good actor (and of course crew, directors etc) can take you there. Want to know what its like to have a scary axe murderer chasing after you? Well, guess what? A good movie, with good actors can take you there too! Now if thats not simply beautiful and exciting i dont know what is!

America!
After much dreaming, planning and getting super excited i left on a whirl-wind adventure to the United States of America. Landing in LA on a beautiful warm, summers day i ran straight to hollywood to check out the place where dreams come true and artists parade. I didnt really know what to expect but hollywood was full of tourists and the odd 'freak' which added colour and amusement. LA was so much fun! I made heaps of friends and even went to check out the Stella Adler Academy and i got to see Amy. After LA i visted Vegas...which is definitely sin city! New york which was great and San Francisco. Its good to be home but i just had such a great time, i cant wait to go back!
Opera Australia
Earlier last year i was given the amazing opportunity to be part of Opera Australias Iltravatore Autumn Season at the State theatre. What an amazing experience to see some of the finest performers at work and not only that but performing in a venue like the State Theatre was a dream come true! Although i didnt get to showcase my (somewhat non-existent) singing talents i was a prisoner, a villager and a dead body :) As the dead body we had to be lifted up by the male dancers in these artistic poses and we also got to have fake blood put on. The makeup department actually made it out of honey and vegitmite! On the last night we covered ourselves in blood so when the dancers went to lift us their hands got all sticky! They got us back though by pinching us when we were trying to be dead. Good Times!!!
Six Mates, Six Stories
Working in a film with a powerful message? What more can an actor ask for?? Six Mates, Six Stories was a WA Government (City of Melville) project produced by Heydon Films which was aimed at teenage boys health. I played the girlfriend of the leading actor who tragically has his life ended by a drink driving incident. I think the short film carried extremely powerful messages and i really hope it can resonate with everyone. Headspace an organisation focussed on mental health issues were so impressed with the film that they use it as a visual tool.
Frozen Butterflies
My first feature film! It was a very exciting project. I auditioned about 2 years ago for this project and was so excited when i found out i would be playing Kate. It was a very long (but fun) process, we had lots of rehersals and then finally, months later we started shooting. The scene i was in was filmed in a massive Toorak mansion - which was freezing! And we worked late into the night. It was such a rewarding experience. Earlier this year the cast and crew were invited to a private screening and it was so so rewarding to see it up on the big screen. The film company Lipkin Films has big plans for the film which is currently now in post production.
He's Not There

He's not There - HNT, is a quirky, funny and sentimental Channel 31 TV series set to air sometime in June 09. It revolves around a guy, Murphy who has an imaginary friend who guides him through the ups and downs of young adulthood. I play Melanie, the outrageous art student who develops a crush on Murphy. She is charmed by his apparent wierdness and will do anything to get him, however, the plot thickens as we discover he has eyes for someone else!

Currently still filming, HNT has been such a fun and exciting learning experience. Melanie is such a fun character to play. She is clueless but at the same time so smart and determined. I admire her courage in pursuing Murphy. I dont know how the series will end as i have not read the final scripts but i wonder if Melanie will end up with the man of her dreams??!
